The process of creating a music production can be different from time to time - but usually starts with recording the tracks for the song . From the initial inspiration, composition, practice and fine-tuning of musical ideas, at some point, it’s time to capture the music. In the end, the song or the album will be published on CD, vinyl or for streaming.
When entering the recording studio all band members have to know their parts well. The instruments must be ready and tuned and the equipment must be in order. The band must be in harmony so that recording studio time is optimized.
All the instruments must be set up for recording and suitable microphones selected. Sometimes direct input (DI) is used and sometimes the instruments and amplifiers are miked up. If virtual instruments are used only the MIDI information is recorded - but later rendered as audio tracks.. Usually the drums are recorded first so that all the other instruments record their parts in sync with the drum track timing. Mostly the song is recorded to click , so that the tempo is set by the DAW (Digital Audio Work Station) making it easier to work with the tracks later.
